Being far away can be a drag sometimes. My mom really wants to get an iPad and eventually a MacBook. I'm doing as much as I can to help her decide what to get, but I'd love to be able to pop over to help her shop and then help set everything up.

Of course, part of that is because I love setting up new tech, but the other part is that my dad is good with electronics, but he just does everything himself without explaining what he's doing. Problem is that this stuff is going to be for Mom to use exclusively, so she needs to know what's going on.

So, I'm doing as much as I can via e-mail and phone.

But, I'm really excited to see her enthusiasm for her tech growth.

I think it's more likely that someone thought they'd get a lot of page views if they wrote something that implied that women are that stupid and vapid, without realizing that people would actually call them out on their stupidity.

It is just like the Jack Thompson case... But it's journalists and editors like that who give writers a bad name. Satire- learn what it is first, and don't post anything you won't stand behind.

It's like Jack Thompson's attempt at satire with the Modest Proposal video game. When he got called on it, he claimed Satire and backed out of it. So Penny-Arcade put up when he shut up.

I couldn't agree more. Labeling a piece "satire" as an excuse to say something awful, hurtful, or just plain stupid is at best bad form and at worst devious and manipulative.

There are way too many sites trying to get traffic using all these different techniques and schemes. Here's an idea dummies: put out something meaningful, informative, inspiring, or (gasp) entertaining.

Oh man, I totally hear ya on this. My problem is what Shemp describes above. Our shows are cut off at the hour since that is what they are scheduled for, so we do not see the minute or two over on DVR if the show does last more like 1h2m. This is really annoying when we watch Psych on DVR, for example, and I don't get to see all the funny out-takes at the end. Boo. Psych is one thing, but if that happened while watching a show like Breaking Bad, and I missed the last minute, I would be really pissed. It worries me that you say Mad Men went 4 minutes over since Breaking Bad is on the same channel!

I'm totally with you on this one. Also a problem in many cases (like mine) where our cable companies have dumb DVRs, is that those extra minutes get cut off. This happens frequently at our house with Nick shows. They insert a promo for some terrible show like Bucket & Skinner in the last commercial break of a popular show like iCarly or Victorious which causes the popular show to go over and then get cut off.

Even if you know this is happening and set your DVR to "extend record time 3 minutes," you run the risk of missing the first 3 minutes of another show.

My personal pet peeve with my cable company's dumb DVR is when I have a conflict of of multiple shows so I manually choose the ones I want to record and the ones to skip only to have it revert back to the original schedule and record the wrong shows. I realize there's a page I can go to where I can "set priority" but that only makes a difference both show are part of a "series recording."

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a week that was on fast forward. I'm hoping this weekend lets me catch my breath... but I doubt that's going to happen.

Thanks for the well-wishes. We've got a lot of plans on how to make it work. Definitely finding other things to share while we raise funds for the full episodes.

I'm 100% with you on the time slipping away this week. The 9-5 job kept me away from working on things too and now the weekend is here and the madness shows no sign of stopping! Sorry that the Kickstarter for IS didn't go as planned. It's a great project from what I've seen and wish nothing but the best for you guys!

Well, I should say that I don't remember any "making it rain" gags. But it is a SOLID solid movie, that's just as slyly subversive as the other Muppet movies are.

That's pretty adorable! My son used to holler "Swiper, no swiping!" when I would pick things up at the store to put them in my shopping cart. I always got the weirdest looks... *sighs*
